Pam COULTER Blehert paints primarily in oil and acrylics. She has around 400 paintings in private collections and 4 in corporate or government collections. She is a three-time “Best of Show” winner at the Art League of Alexandria monthly juried show at the Torpedo Factory, Alexandria, VA. Her paintings have been featured in the Elan Magazine (April 2009) and American Artist magazine (Feb. '95) and included in the North Light Book of Acrylic Painting Techniques (By Earl Grenville). She has participated in regional juried shows and had a number of one-person shows. She is currently represented at the Chasen Galleries in Richmond. Until it closed in 1997, she was represented by Venable-Neslage Galleries in Washington, D.C. She has twice had a painting accepted for display in the National Art Club (Salmagundi Club) in New York City. She participates regularly in juried Art League shows at the Torpedo Factory, Alexandria, where she has been an accepted member of the "Bin gallery" for many years, and in Reston Virginia art shows. She teaches art locally at various venues.
An illustrator and cartoonist as well as oil painter, she worked most recently as a technical writer and computer graphics artist for a local company. Now nominally "retired", she conducts classes in painting (oil/acrylic) and pursues her painting career as well as doing volunteer community work for her church, the Church of Scientology. She will do commissions and portraits from photos and sittings. Her work can be seen on the web at www.blehert.com.
Artist Statement
There is no limitation on creating. The artist belies the physical scientist's manifesto on the conservation of matter and energy with its implicit idea that nothing is ever really created or destroyed. On the contrary, take three artists and direct them to paint the same still life and you will get three different still lifes. Put pen, paint or crayon to paper and you have created something. So all is potential. From that as a starting point, we can work on professionalism and the quality of communication. Pam Coulter
