Ft. Stockton, TX

In this painting of the main street in Ft. Stockton Texas (1974) which is in West Texas where it's hot and dry, I caught water rolling across the sky in an infrequent thunderstorm. It was rapid and I had to paint quickly before the rain came down. The painting captures a sense of the power and immediacy of the oncoming storm. It was 1974 and my mother and I had traveled to Ft. Stockton, her original home, for a family reunion.
