Although Three Boats, Manchester Harbor (1994) is one of the American Artist expedition pieces, it was not painted on site, but was done later in the studio, allowing me to "finish" it more. Notice that the broken land in the background was first painted in dark tones and then, when the oil had dried, scumbled over with lighter colors. And the water was glazed with blue to bring out its clarity.
