Horseback Riding in Big Bend National Park
watercolor on 140 lb.
This was painted from a photo taken during a trip mother (Olivia Williams Coulter) and I took to Big Bend National Park back in about 1974. Dean and I later visited Big Bend several times but never did the trip by mule to the top of an enormous drop of the land (I've forgotten the name of the phenomemnon, but it was caused long ago by an earthquake. The land still captures that time of quakes and upheavals like a frozen moment.)
