In 1991, Dean and I did a long round-the-States car trip. This was one of many impressions I did sitting in the passenger side of the maroon Nissan Van, at 70 mph. Many of this skteches I still think have a marvelous simplicity. I would put down the impression of the scene quickly in pen and then, using a simple watercolor kit, capture the basic colors and contours as we continued along the road.
